VidyaJey Foundation works with local partners in India to support people with disabilities (PwD), by providing them with training on specific skills, to enhance livelihood opportunities for them, across India. Among the 26.8 million people with disabilities (Census 2011) in India, over 64% of them are non-workers. Many of the left behind persons with disabilities are pushed into "Necessity driven" entrepreneurial activities, without adequate training, skills, finance, access to mentors, markets etc., resulting in their ventures becoming neither sustainable nor scalable.
VidyaJey Foundation has engaged ATPAR (Alliance To Promote Abilities & Rehabilitation LLP), a social enterprise as its consultant and knowledge partner to support its initiatives in India for the livelihood of PwDs, to build entrepreneurship skills, provide business mentorship, access to financial & market linkages and to engage with the ecosystem so that entrepreneurs with disabilities can achieve economic empowerment, social inclusion and rehabilitation.
ATPAR has been partnering with various mainstream stakeholders in the entrepreneurial ecosystem like National Small Industries Corporation (NSIC), BIMTECH Atal Incubation Centre, National Career Service Centre for the Differently Abled (Formerly VRC), Industry Associations, and NGOs across India, to include persons/entrepreneurs with disabilities in their incubator/ accelerator programs, to provide them access to various government schemes, to provide financial and market linkages.
Some key impacts achieved through collaboration with various stakeholders to provide its services since 2021 are given below.
